My Experience:
How can you not love a town where the old west meets the modern world of today?
A town where life is stroll, not a mad dash to the next destination and all with a friendly attitude from the business man
to the mother pushing a stroller.
Yes, Prescott, for me is a wonderful town. I, as with many of you, hadn't considered Prescott
a place to visit until I stopped to explore the antique stores on my first trip back from Sedona. The town square is
the meeting place for everything, and has such an inviting feel, this is one of my favorite parts of the town.
My stay at the Hotel Vendome,
was comfortable and a step back in time (even though the free wifi had me using my laptop a bit.) Not only is the Hotel Vendome
family owned and operated, it is only steps from the historic town and historic itself. A favorite lodging for cowboy
star Tom Mix, I couldn't help but to keep saying, "if these original floors could talk." Famed Whiskey Row
is only a block away;-))
I enjoyed a delightful and tasty dinner at the locals & visitors favorite restaurant, Murphy's on Cortez street,
a block or so down from the Hotel. I enjoyed a delicious prime rib paired with Murphy's own private label wine...yes
I'm so spoiled.. For the best chicken fried steak I've ever had, it's the Lone Spur Cafe on Gurley street..as with Murphy's,
within walking distance of the Hotel Vendome.
There is so much to do in Prescott. From golfing, hiking, shopping, dining, gambling,
entertainment, special events and more, the easiest way to find out what is happening before you go, is to visit the Prescott
Area Coalition for Tourism website www.visit-prescott.com . Then once parked in the town square, walk over to the Tourism center for more maps and information.
This
was my fourth trip to Prescott, and not my last. I'm thinking Rodeo Days in July!! Care to join me.............
