My Experience:
"I love LA!" This song now has a new meaning for me. Being a
California native Los Angeles was the place to stay away from. Now it's a clean historical delight, with much
thanks to the Conservancy.
Offering 13 walking tours (with guides) to choose from, I decided to take my own self-guided
tours and walked the Historic Core tour and the Theatre District tour. Loved them both. I set off from the Millennium
Biltmore at around noon and by 5pm I was still going, so much to see. My self-guided tour was aided by a map from
the Conservancy. The Conservancy is happy to supply all of us self-guided people with a map and descriptions of what
we'll see.
This experience can be a day tripping event or spend a night in downtown. I found it
very exciting and full of life.
A couple of musts if spending more than one day. Dine at the Original Pantry
(since 1924) on Ninth and Figueroa......still delicious and still looks like everyone's favorite greasy spoon. The
Pantry is now owned by former Mayor Riordan.
Next must FIDM, Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising.
We are talking fashion, from museums to galleries to shops, another fun place full of life and young people following their
fashion dreams.
Only a couple of hours away, indulge and try something new. I did, and I'm ready to do
it again.
